Jadeja, in particular, was spectacular on his return as he bagged two 'Player of the Match' awards back-to-back, in the first two Test matches of the series in Nagpur and Delhi. Jadeja bagged a fifer (5/47) in the first innings of the Nagpur Test and also grabbed two in the second innings. He was instrumental with the bat in hand too as he scored a 70 and helped India bag a win by an innings and 132 runs.

Jadeja picked it up from where he had left in Nagpur and put up yet another astonishing display in Delhi in the second Test. He bagged 3/68 and 7/42 in the Delhi Test and helped India win the game by six wickets. He also scored 26 runs in the match.

Although, India couldn't win the third Test and lost it by nine wickets, Jadeja did snare a four-for in the first innings of the Indore Test. On the other hand, Ashwin was also instrumental for team India for the entirety of the series. Ashwin went past Anil Kumble to become the player with most wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy history.

Ashwin has 114 wickets in the history of Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and is second to Nathan Lyon who leads the list with 116.
