IND vs AUS: Ravindra Jadeja strikes twice in an over as Australia look to improve in second Test

Following Team India's dominant performance in the first Border Gavaskar Trophy Test, the Australians would have been looking for ways to improve in the second match. The squad has definitely improved on their performance from the first match, as they notched up 263 in the first innings of the second Test.

One of the consistent aspects of India’s dominance was veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, the 34-year-old who was named the Player of the Match in the first Test and continued his performance in the second Test as well. Jadeja picked up three wickets and provided team India with some much-needed breakthroughs as they stopped the Aussies at 263 runs.

Skipper Pat Cummins, who had developed a solid partnership with Peter Handscomb, was dismissed by Jadeja at 33 runs. The partnership between Cummins and Handscomb was integral to the Aussies' putting up a good score after the first innings. Four balls after Cummins’ dismissal, Jadeja struck again as 22-year-old Todd Murphy was sent back to the pavilion.

The Aussies look towards building on a good start to the second Test

Australian opener Usman Khawaja played an influential knock for the side. The 36-year-old scored 81 off 125 balls before he was dismissed thanks to a sensational catch by KL Rahul. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were not able to impress with the bat, as they were dismissed early by Ravichandran Ashwin.

After notching up 263 runs on the scoreboard in the first innings, Australia will depend on their bowlers to follow up on their performance as they try to stop the Indian batting attack, which was marvellous in the first Test. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, and even Ravindra Jadeja are going to be threats with the bat, and dismissing them early would be crucial for the Aussies. Todd Murphy, who made his debut in the Nagpur Test, was sensational for Australia as he picked up seven wickets in the first match.
