Ace batter of the Indian team, Shubman Gill, is slated to be an active ingredient of the Test squad against Bangladesh during both of their Tests.
However, the senior selection committee will be giving Gill as well as others some time off cricket by not involving them in the three-match T20I series, citing workload management concerns.
India are gearing up for a rigorous Test calendar, with 10 Tests being played this season, which include the tour of Australia following the home Tests against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Gill, having shifted and made number 3 his own of late, is expected to feature in all the Tests, subject to fitness.
“Yes, Shubman will be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series. If you look at the fixtures, the three T20Is will be played on October 7 (Gwalior), 10 (Delhi) and 13 (Hyderabad). The first Test versus New Zealand starts on October 16. With a turnaround of three days, it is important to give Gill a break,” stated a BCCI source, according to The Hindu.
According to the same report, it is also understood that most of the players involved in the Test line-up might not feature for the T20Is. This comes with the main agenda of the BCCI as well as the team on the 2023/25 cycle of the World Test Championship, with eye on the final to be played at Lord's in June 2025.
The same report states that pacers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, will be provided rest as per them requiring rest.

Kishan might re-emerge into international fray after nine months of international obscurity
With Rishabh Pant being a vital cog which the BCCI will be sure to make a regular of the red-ball squad going forward, it remains to be seen whether he will feature in the 20-over format.
