Ace India batter Shubman Gill has admitted that he is still decoding how to work towards being a successful all-format player and managing his workload. Gill has been an active part of all three setups of the national side of late. He is the full-time Test and ODI captain and is the vice-captain of the T20I unit.

Calling the hurdle as more of a mental challenge than physical, Gill spoke on how he has been tackling workload.

"I am still trying to figure out how to manage it. I think the workload, starting from the Asia Cup, we have been playing kind of back-to-back, travelling to different countries, switching between formats within four-five days. So, I am also trying to figure out what gives me the best chance to be able to perform and succeed in all those formats that I am going to play. The challenge is definitely more mental than physical," stated Gill, as quoted by India Today.

Recently, former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara spoke othe same subject while speaking about Gill. The ex-batter commented on the different challenges that come up while transitioning from white-ball cricket to the red-format.

"He was recently in Australia leading the Indian one-day squad, then he played T20s, and now he suddenly has to shift from white-ball to red-ball cricket, not in Australia, but in India, where the conditions are completely different. His biggest challenge will be adjusting to different formats as quickly as possible. In Test cricket, you need temperament, patience and you also need to change your game plan according to the format, and to do that very quickly is always challenging for any top-class player," he added.

Ever since the England tour, in which Gill shattered records with the bat, it has been tough going for him; be it the Asia Cup or the limited-overs series against Australia. There will be plenty of expectations from India to continue their home dominance in Tests and Gill will be one of the batters who will be expected to be among the runs.
