India and Sri Lanka will be locking horns one last time in the ongoing three-match ODI series at the The Sports Hub, commonly known as the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram for the 3rd ODI on Sunday, January 15.

The Men In Blue have already wrapped up the series 2-0, after a convincing four-wicket win in the 2nd ODI at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KL Rahul top scored with an impressive knock of 64* and Kuldeep Yadav was one of the most impressive bowlers with a three-fer.

Sri Lanka looked like a very ordinary side in the 2nd ODI. After their first wicket fell on 29, there was a steady partnership between Nuwanidu Fernando (50 off 63) and Kusal Mendis (34 off 34), but courtesy of a brilliant Indian bowling performance, Sri Lanka collapsed from 102/2 to 215 all out.

Pitch and Conditions

Greenfield International Stadium doesn't have a very batting friendly nature, and the bowlers have dominated on this very track. This stadium hosted a T20I between India and South Africa in 2022, and it was purely dominated by the bowlers from both sides.

In the initial overs, the pacers will be able to swing the ball, and the surface becomes slow later on bringing the spinners of both sides into play. The boundaries of the stadium are not that huge, and the batters can play their shots after getting their eyes set. On winning the toss both captains would aim to chase taking the dew into consideration.

Probable Playing XI for IND vs SL 3rd ODI

India

Both teams would want to stick to their respective playing XIs from the 2nd ODI. However, for India, since they have already sealed the series, they might as well want to give Ishan Kishan a chance in the squad, though his position might differ provided he gets a game.

India would want to bank on Kuldeep Yadav the most in the bowling department, given his performance in the previous ODI which won him the Player of the Match award.

Probable Playing XI – Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill/Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Mohammed Siraj

Sri Lanka

Things have not been very impressive for Sri Lanka. The Asian champions are far from their best performance in the series. However, they might want to go unchanged in the 3rd ODI to give all the players another opportunity to put their best feet forward.

Probable Playing XI – Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Dunith Wellalage, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka/Lahiru Kumara
