At the M.A Chidambaram stadium, Chennai Super Kings played Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024. The five-time winners had to bat first, as the Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to take the field. Ruturaj Gaikwad announced that the team had decided to drop Rachin Ravindra and bring in Daryl Mitchell, meanwhile, KL Rahul informed that they are playing with the same team.
Powerplay : CSK - 49/2
The new opening duo of Ajinkya Rahane and Gaikwad could not string together a big partnership, as the former was dismissed in the first over by Matt Henry. Daryl Mitchell joined the captain at the crease but did not make any significant contributions. He was dismissed in the final over of the powerplay after he made 11 runs from his 10 deliveries.

CSK - 75/2 - First Strategic Timeout
The team management decided to promote Ravindra Jadeja once again so that he can build a partnership with Gaikwad. After the first nine overs of the innings, the defending champions found themselves at 75 runs for the loss of two wickets. Gaikwad reached yet another IPL fifty and would have been hoping to make it a big one.
Middle overs - CSK - 135/3 - Second Strategic Timeout
Ravindra Jadeja was playing the role of anchor as the skipper on the opposite end was doing the bulk of the scoring. The all-rounder’s tame innings came to an end as Mohsin Khan sent him back to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs from 19 balls. Shivam Dube came to the crease and started off with an attacking intent. At the end of 15 overs, the Chennai-based franchise was in a comfortable position and were looking at a score of above 200.

Innings end - CSK - 210/4
Dube started the final part of the innings with an amazing 19-run over against Yash Thakur. The skipper also hit a six in the 17th over and was looking towards his second IPL hundred today. He completed his century in the next over and was looking to pile on more misery on the opposition. The southpaw continued the onslaught and completed his fifty in just 22 deliveries. At the end of the innings, the Chennai Super Kings was able to post a daunting total of 210/4 against Lucknow Super Giants.
