Rajasthan Royals batters made merry thanks to some sloppy fielding and generous bowling from the Gujarat Titans bowlers. The home team scored a massive 196/3 from their 20 overs.

Riyan Parag top-scored for Rajasthan Royals with 76 runs off 48 balls with three fours and five sixes. Skipper Sanju Samson was not out on 68 off 38 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for GT with 1/18 from his four overs. 

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory – 44/0)

Gujarat Titans couldn’t get off the block as the Royals bowlers kept things tight. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan found it difficult to hit the boundaries in the first six overs. But a few big hits in the final over before the powerplay ended brought GT back into the game.

Stat Alert: Shubman Gill reaches a special milestone

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill smacked Avesh Khan straight down the ground for a four. This got the young batter his 4000 runs in T20 cricket in what is a special career already.

Gujarat Titans: 50 runs in 6.5 overs

Chasing 197 to win the Titans saw their openers’ skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan make a sedate start. The two batters batted well to mix caution with aggression to not lose a wicket.

Gujarat Titans: First Strategic Time-out (63/0 from 8 overs)

Yuzvendra Chahal was given the eighth over of the innings and Sai Sudharsan welcomed him with two fours. The last ball of the over was hit back to the bowler who dropped a difficult chance. The visitors still needed 134 runs 72 balls left in the game with all ten wickets left.  

Gujarat Titans: 100 runs in 12.4 overs

Kuldeep Sen playing his first game of the season got three wickets to dent the visiting side. Vijay Shankar though came out all guns blazing to help Shubman Gill go past 100 runs.

Half-Century: Shubman Gill (off 35 balls)

Yet again this season it was Shubman Gill who stood up for his side when the chips were down. The 24-year-old was amazing with his strokes and scored yet another IPL fifty. 

Gujarat Titans: Second Strategic time-out (133/5 from 15.2 overs)

Yuzvendra Chahal got the wicket of aggressive-looking Vijay Shankar to keep RR on top. Shubman Gill decided to take the attack to the opposition as he stepped on the gas to give his team bit of hope. Chahal though had the last laugh when he had Gill out stumped for 72.

Gujarat Titans: 150 runs from 16.4 overs

Shahrukh Khan took a special liking to Ravichandran Ashwin and hit him for a four and a six. Rahul Tewatia made it 17 runs from the over as the equation came down to 42 off 18 balls. 

End of the innings: Gujarat Titans: 199/7 from 20 overs 

Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia swung a few hefty blows to make it 15 off six. Six runs came off the first two balls as RR suddenly looked tensed. Four more runs followed as the Titans got a new lease of life. Rahul Tewatia ran himself out while looking for a third to make it 2 from 1. Rashid Khan hit a four to win the game for his side and complete an amazing comeback.
