Punjab Kings travelled to Guwahati to play Rajasthan Royals in their penultimate game of the season. Sam Curran and his team were playing for pride as they were already out of the race of the playoffs. It was Sanju Samson who decided to bat first after winning the toss.

Rajasthan Royals scored 144 for 9 overs from their 20 overs. Local star Riyan Parag was the top scorer for the home side with 48 runs from 34 balls. Sam Curran, Harshal Patel, and Rahul Chahar picked two wickets for the visitors.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory –39/3)

Rajasthan Royals got the first wicket when Trent Boult had Prabhsimran Singh caught by Yuzvendra Chahal. Rilee Rossouw came out with attacking intent and hit 5 fours in his knock. Avesh Khan then got two wickets in a single over to bring the Royals back into the game. 

Punjab Kings: 50 runs off 8.5 overs and first strategic time-out (55/4)       

After losing three early wickets, Punjab Kings lost the wicket of Jonny Bairstow for 14 to Chahal caught by Riyan Parag. Jitesh Sharma then hit Ravichandran Ashwin for a six to bring up the fifty of the Punjab Kings side before the time-out was taken.

Punjab Kings: 100 runs from 14.4 overs

Runs were difficult to come by as the Rajasthan Royals bowlers kept things tight. Things changed in the 15th over when Jitesh Sharma and then Sam Curran hit Ravichandran Ashwin for two sixes to bring the 100 up.

Punjab Kings: Second Strategic time-out (111/5 from 15.4 overs)

Yuzvendra Chahal bowling his final over got the wicket of Jitesh Sharma to put an end to the threatening stand. The 30-year-old was caught by Riyan Parag after scoring 22 runs from 20 balls.

End of the Match: Punjab Kings -145/5 all out from 18.5 overs

Sam Curran playing his final game of the season stood up and played a captain knock. The left-handed batter scored 63 not out from 41 balls which was his 2nd fifty of the seam to lead his side to a 5-wicket win with 7 balls to spare.
