Veteran Mumbai Indians cricketer Rohit Sharma is set to part ways with Mumbai Indians, post the conclusion of the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Reportedly, this comes amid Rohit's disappointment towards the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, who replaced the experienced Rohit as the new leader for the five-time champion franchise.

According to News24 Sports, Rohit has expressed his will to part ways with MI, since the Nagpur-born ain't happy with the atmosphere in the team's dressing room. Furthermore, there are reports of possible division of groups within the MI camp, with some being on Rohit's side, while others in the newly-appointed skipper's favour.

Notably, the replacement in the captain of such a successful franchise has sparked a huge debate in the cricket circle, dividing fans and experts alike. However, Hardik has been on the receiving end of criticism from experts and trolling from netizens, especially after losing three games in a row that he has led Mumbai to, so far. A few experiments by the newly-appointed skipper haven't gone well with the Mumbai fans, leading to massive hatred on social media.

Speaking of the differences between Hardik and Rohit, the rumours of groupism emerged after bowling coach Lasith Malinga was seen stepping away after Pandya came to sit alongside the former Lankan pacer and Kieron Pollard. The Baroda-born has also become common to booing from fans, first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, playing against his former franchise Gujarat Titans, and later at the Wankhede Stadium, where Rohit himself had to force the audience to stop booing the 29-year-old.

After three consecutive losses, Hardik will be backing himself to deliver the goods for Mumbai Indians, and get them back to winning ways, despite the underwhelming start. Notably, the next game will be held at Wankhede against Delhi Capitals on April 07. Thus, in the upcoming game, all the eyes will be on the captain to reply to his critics with a positive performance.
