The Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered yet another defeat at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as the Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a convincing seven-wicket victory in Match 43 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, May 1.
Having decided to bat first, the hosts scored 225 runs from their quota of 20 overs. There were valuable contributions from the middle-order batters after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got out early. Captain Riyan Parag scored 90, his highest score of the season in this year’s IPL, to return to form. There were other important contributions, including Donovan Ferreira’s 14-ball 47 not out. In the bowling, returning Mitchell Starc took three wickets for the Capitals.
In reply, DC chased down the total in the final over, thanks to a handy cameo from the bat of Ashutosh Sharma (25 not out). However, it was the openers who sent the 2020 finalists on their merry way, scoring 110 runs in less than 10 overs. KL Rahul top-scored with 75, while Pathum Nissanka chipped in with 62. No RR bowler stood out, with Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja all taking one wicket each.
Key moments of the game:
1. Rajasthan Royals openers sent back early
RR have one of the strongest opening pairs in the IPL this season, who does the bulk of the scoring for them. However, against DC, the left-handed duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were both sent packing after two overs, with Mitchell Starc and Kyle Jamieson taking their wickets, respectively.
Welcome to #TATAIPL 2026, Mitchell Starc 💪

2. Donovan Ferreira dominates the death
It was once again the Donovan Ferreira show in the death overs. The South Africa international hammered an unbeaten 47 off just 14 balls, scoring two fours and six sixes to hit at a strike-rate of 335.71. The efforts, however, ended up going in vain as RR suffered yet another defeat in Jaipur.
That’s been hammered 🔥

3. Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul give the Delhi Capitals the perfect platform
Pathum Nissanka returned to the playing XI to score his maiden half-century in his IPL career. He, alongside KL Rahul, forged a 110-run partnership whilst opening the batting in just 9.3 overs. Nissanka went on to score 62 of just 33 balls, while KL Rahul continued his good run of form to hit 75 at a strike-rate of 187.50. This partnership put DC in the driver’s seat, and they never really looked back as they finally got to taste victory in the IPL.
Picked to perfection 👌
