'It is actually exciting' - USA’s Aaron Jones reflects on opportunity to play against India in T20 World Cup

The USA is all set to continue their ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 campaign by taking on the Indian team, The co-hosts are currently unbeaten in the tournament, defeating Canada and Pakistan, and currently occupy second place in their group standings.
For their next game, the USA will be taking on table-toppers India. Both sides will lock horns at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York in the 25th game of the tournament on Wednesday, June 12. Ahead of the game, star USA batter Aaron Jones has come forward to talk about how excited he is to play against India. Jones opined that it is very exciting for him and that he always wished to play against the biggest names ever since he was a kid.
"It is actually exciting, me growing up as a kid, I always wanted to play against the best players in the world. I'm definitely going to get the opportunity to do that now and it's exciting for me, I don't want to say intimidating," Jones said in the pre-match press conference.
"I'm excited to play against them and talk to them. Definitely to beat them as well, They're pretty excited to be honest. This is the first time USA will be playing against India,” he added.

Furthermore, Aaron Jones talked about how he hopes that the craze for cricket will only rise in the USA. He reflected on how the ongoing T20 World Cup will attract many new viewers to the sport, and with cricket being included in the Olympics as well, many new fans in the USA could be a real possibility.
“It's only a matter of time before a majority people come on board, America is a place where people love sports. Obviously, this World Cup is going to open the eyes of a lot of people and then in a few years, you have cricket in the Olympics — that's a very big thing as well. I think everything is on the rise right now," Jones said.
