Wasim Jaffer shared his candid take on what could be the result of India's two-match Test series against Sri Lanka next month. The first Test will be played at the Galle International Stadium, starting August 15. Meanwhile, the second Test will commence on August 23, and it will be hosted at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.

Jaffer backed India to register a comprehensive 2-0 series win, stating that India have a much stronger side on paper. The former India opener said that if the scoreline is anything other than 2-0 in favour of Shubman Gill's men, it would be a disappointing result for them.

“I would say India should win the series 2-0. If you look at both teams on paper, the Indian side is much stronger. So, if India don't win the series 2-0, it would be a disappointing outcome. Sri Lanka is a very good team, there's no doubt about that. But on paper, I feel we are much stronger," Jaffer said during a discussion on his YouTube channel.

“I think the No. 3 position suits him well” - Wasim Jaffer backs southpaw ahead of Sri Lanka series

Jaffer voiced his support for Sai Sudharsan continuing to bat at the No. 3 spot, citing that the left-handed batter played well against Afghanistan and will improve his game if he is given time.

“As far as Sai is concerned, all the selectors and even the captain have said that they want to give him a long rope. He also performed well in the recent series, so I believe he deserves that opportunity. He's a good player, a solid player, and he's only going to improve. He's the kind of character who will just keep getting better. I think the No. 3 position suits him well. Shubman is batting at No. 4 and has been batting really well, so I don't see the top four positions changing anytime soon," he observed.

Sudharsan has had a slow start to his Test career, as he has scored 383 runs in seven Tests at an average of 31.92. His batting, especially against spin, will be tested on the Sri Lankan pitches.
