Indian cricket team suffered a big ten-wicket defeat against England in the second semi-final clash of the T20 World Cup 2022 at Adelaide Oval. Indian bowlers failed to defend a big 169-run target as they failed to make any impact throughout the innings. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales pulled off a remarkable unbeaten 170-run partnership to guide England to the final of the tournament in style.

India won four of their five Super 12 Group 2 fixtures to finish at top of the table with the highest eight points. They were tipped to progress to the knockout stages and were favorites to win the semi-final clash. But England shattered Indian fans' dream to reach the final despite missing their star batter Dawid Malan and an in-form pacer Mark Wood.

Fans were hoping for silverware after an early exit in the 2022 Asia Cup, but another failure in big tournaments has raised many questions as fans were quick to point out fingers at individuals. Social media is already asking to sack a few senior players and few are also demanding some big changes in the management.

It's too early to think about the future of senior players: Rahul Dravid

The Indian captain scored 27 runs against England but took 28 balls as he struggled to rotate the strike with singles and doubles. Rohit finished the tournament with 116 runs from six innings at an average of 19.33 and a poor strike rate of 106.42. Apart from Rohit, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Dinesh Karthik also struggled for consistency throughout the tournament and now the question on the future of senior players is rising slowly.

But the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, when asked about the future of senior players, said that it's too early to hold senior players responsible for India's exit from the World Cup. While the next T20 World Cup will be held in 2024, Dravid stated that they have a lot of time to make any changes to the squad.

"It’s too early to talk about anyone now. These guys have been great performers. Not the right time to think about it now," Rahul Dravid said in the post-match press conference.
