Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been extraordinary in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Ahmedabad-born cricketer has picked up 11 wickets in six matches so far at an economy rate of just 4.08. He has played a pivotal role in India’s success up to the Super Eights and will be a key asset to the Rohit Sharma-led side at the business end of the marquee tournament.
Former England cricketer Paul Collingwood understands his value and believes that Bumrah is the best cricketer in the world at the moment. The 30-year-old has been a bank and has proved himself under pressure, which helped India massively. Collingwood mentioned that the pacer should be the first name on the team sheet and noted that he has the perfect skill to succeed in the shortest format of the game.
“I think if you had a piece of paper and had to pick a cricket team, in any form of the game, Jasprit Bumrah would be the first name going on that list right at the top. It's as simple as that. He's the best cricketer in the world at this moment. The skill level, the pace, the deception that he has in T20 cricket is incredible,” Collingwood said exclusively during the Star Sports Press Room.
Bumrah is going to be a big difference when it comes to winning or losing: Sreesanth
India are to play England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. Ahead of that, former cricketer Sreesanth pointed out that Bumrah can prove to be the big difference and decide the fate of the match. He analysed the pacer’s style of bowling and explained that it is hard to pick Bumrah given his awkward action.

“If you look at his deliveries, he bowls in front of his head, which is an awkward action, making it very difficult to pick up. The England players have faced him, but when it comes to critical situations, maybe that is one mantra to learn—that Bumrah is going to be a big difference when it comes to winning or losing. Those four overs, as rightly said at the start of the show, those 24 balls, how the England team deals with them will matter,” Sreesanth said.
