The incredible action continues to amaze fans in the ongoing IPL 2023 as Kolkata Knight Riders are taking on Rajasthan Royals in match 56 on Thursday, May 11 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson won the toss and invited Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first at their home. KKR openers Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz walked out to the middle to give a fiery start to their side.
However, their partnership ended on 14 courtesy of a one-handed stunner by Shimron Hetmyer in the third over of the innings. On the second ball of the third over bowled by Trent Boult, Roy flicked the ball towards deep square leg. Hetmyer, who was stationed on the boundary, jumped to his full height and went with both hands for the catch and managed to grab hold of the ball in his right hand.
The West Indian further balanced himself to not fall outside the fence and completed one of the most spectacular catches of the tournament.
Following his dismissal, Gurbaz tried to take the attack back to the KKR bowling as he smacked two sixes against Sandeep Sharma in the third over. However, his innings was also cut short by Trent Boult as he hit one straight to Sandeep Sharma at mid-off who completed a catch diving to his right.
As a result, KKR lost both of their openers, inside the powerplay and were 37/2 after six overs. Notably, Boult has been exceptional with the ball in the ongoing season as he has struck for RR in the first over itself. The left-arm seamer has bowled three maiden overs in the tournament so far out of which two were double-wicket maidens against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings respectively.
Out of the nine games played in the season so far, the Kiwi seamer has only gone wicket-less twice. Boult has picked ten wickets in IPL 2023 so far at an average of 26.80 and an economy of 8.37.
