Courtesy of his knock, RR chased down the target of 150 in just 13.1 overs and ended their three-match losing streak, winning the game by nine wickets.

The 21-year-old seemed pumped after playing another whirlwind knock of the season as he punched the air in delight after scoring the winning boundary in the 14th over against Shardul Thakur. Jaiswal took off his helmet in celebration and pointed at his jersey. The young opener further acknowledged the rousing applause from the crowd for his sensational performance.

During his knock, Jaiswal also entered the record books as he registered the fastest fifty in the history of IPL reaching the landmark in just 13 balls. He surpassed Pat Cummins and KL Rahul who had achieved the feat in 14 balls.

The southpaw started off his innings in emphatic fashion as he smacked KKR captain Nitish Rana for back-to-back sixes on the first two balls of RR’s innings. He further smacked three more boundaries in the same over to record the joint second-highest runs (26) scored in the first over of an innings in IPL history.

The RR opener fell just two runs short of his second IPL hundred after failing to smash Shardul Thakur for a six. He instead swept him for a four to remain unbeaten on 98 and helped RR chase the second-fastest 150-plus score in the tournament’s history.

Trent Boult also picked up 2/25 in his three-over spell. Following their comprehensive win, RR have climbed to the third spot on the points table with six wins from 12 matches. They will next lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, May 14 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
