Former BCCI President and chief of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Sourav Ganguly expressed his stance on the wrestlers' protest in New Delhi. Notably, Ganguly is the first person from the cricketing fraternity to speak verbally about his stance on the issue.

For the unversed, top Indian wrestlers have been protesting on the streets of Delhi for the last couple of days. It is due to the fact that there has been no action against the head of the country’s wrestling federation, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment. With limited knowledge of the incident in Delhi, former cricketer Sourav Ganguly opined on the issue as he wished for the matter to get resolved at the earliest.

“Let them fight their battle. I don't know what's happening there, I just read in the newspapers. In the sports world, I realised one thing that you don't talk about things you don't have complete knowledge of. So, I hope it gets resolved. The wrestlers have won a lot of medals and brought accolades to the country. Hopefully, it will be resolved,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is yet to make an official statement on the issue and is still probing the allegations. In addition to this, the government-formed oversight panel is also yet to disclose the findings.

Sourav Ganguly’s Delhi Capitals struggling at the bottom of the IPL points table

The former BCCI President is currently in charge of Delhi Capitals (DC) as the Director of Cricket. However, the side led by David Warner has not fared well and are currently placed in the bottom of the IPL Points Table.

Placed in the 10th position, Delhi have a meagre six points of their nine outings, courtesy of the three wins earned in the last four games. David Warner and Co. will be up against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their next game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, May 6.
