Mumbai Indians create an ecosystem for you to become the best player you can: Dinesh Karthik

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik recalled his stint with Mumbai Indians and revealed their mantra for player development. Karthik is currently representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024.

Karthik opened up about some great aspects of the five-time champions in a recent conversation. The 38-year-old has stated that MI provides good facilities for the players to bring the best out of them. He also revealed that the one thing he regretted was when he asked MI to not retain him following his stint from 2012-13.

“What MI does is provide resources in terms of practice and access to the coaches whenever you want to upskill your game. They’re always there, creating an ecosystem for you to become the best player that you can be," Karthik said while speaking in a podcast on Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel.

He also recalled that the Mumbai-based franchise was keen to support the Indian cricketers, equipping top-notch training facilities. Their coaching staff and bowlers will also assisted the players, which benefitted the players immensely.

"You can tell MI that in between Ranji Trophy matches, I want to practice and they have a field, they have coaches, they have balls and they have bowlers. They have sidearms, they will give you everything; they’ll give you a stay, they’ll give you flight tickets. They will give you everything possible to become the best version of yourself," he added.

The cricketer hailing from Tamil Nadu further acknowledged the commendable investments and facilities offered by MI. He believes that such provisions by the franchise serve as personal motivation for players to perform, attributing to MI's sustained success in the premier T20 league. 

“You are impacting the player at a very subconscious level by saying we care for you," he concluded.
