Mumbai Indians' gloveman Ishan Kishan, who has struggled to feature in his true colours in the ongoing IPL 2023, once again failed to deliver an impactful innings in the tournament's 1000th game played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Playing against Rajasthan Royals, he fell cheaply, succumbing to the pressure of accelerating the innings as MI had the uphill task of executing the highest successful IPL run chase at the Wankhede.

Chasing 213, Kishan scored 28 runs off 23 balls with the help of four fours before being dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. Kishan then hit himself to express disappointment over his untimely dismissal.

Kishan was visibly disappointed as he failed to guide MI to a commanding position. After losing Rohit Sharma early, Kishan's dismissal once again exposed the vulnerability of the MI openers, who have repeatedly failed to provide MI with required headstarts. Kishan's dismissal reduced Mumbai to 76/2 in the the ninth over - a position where one would not like to find themselves in while chasing a humongous target of 213.

Rohit Sharma failed to deliver on his special day

MI skipper Rohit Sharma, who celebrated his 36th birthday on April 30, failed it make it big for his team on his special day as he departed cheaply to leave Mumbai stranded at 14/1. Rohit could only survive for five deliveries off which he managed to score just three runs.

Rohit tried to cut a Sandeep Sharma delivery towards the square but failed to execute it as the ball kissed the off stump before landing into keeper Sanju Samson's gloves. Rohit looked visibly shocked on the trick played by the ball but had to leave with that, thus handing MI their first wicket.

Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his maiden IPL century to guide RR to a massive total of 212/7 in 20 overs. Jaiswal scored 124 of 62 deliveries with the help of 16 fours and eight sixes.
