Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming believes that the legendary stumper-batter MS Dhoni will not be retiring from professional cricket after the ongoing IPL 2023 season. Notably, for the longest time now, Dhoni’s retirement has been one of the most talked about topics in the cricketing world, with many believing this to be his last season in the cash-rich league.

However, the former New Zealand cricketer mentioned that the 41-year-old hasn’t indicated anything about it in the CSK dressing room. However, Dhoni himself talked about his retirement in a very subtle fashion as after the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, the four-time IPL champion mentioned that the fans may have come in yellow to bid him a farewell.

Albeit, going by what Fleming has said about MS Dhoni, it will most likely make a positive impact on the fans. The legendary player and coach said that so far the CSK skipper has not given any indication or will to hang up his boots. Therefore, Dhoni will most likely continue his professional cricket career post the IPL 2023 as well.

“No, he hasn't indicated anything,” Fleming was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

PBKS defeated CSK by four wickets at Chepauk

Even after putting a total of 200 runs on board, Chennai Super Kings ended up losing by four wickets against Punjab Kings on April 30, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bangalore. The visiting team started well in the second innings, with Prabhsimran Singh leading the charge as the 22-year-old scored 42 runs off just 24 deliveries. Later on, Liam Livingstone played a marvellous knock of 40 runs off 24 deliveries but even so, Punjab were not in the driver’s seat as Sri Lanka pacer Matheesa Pathirana was sensational towards the death.

However, Jitesh Sharma once again played a crucial part as the stumper-batter hit 21* runs off 10 deliveries. Notably, with three runs to score in the final delivery, Punjab were under a lot of pressure but Zimbabwe international Sikandar Raza held his nerves and pulled off an incredible win in favour of the Shikhar Dhawan-led side. With

With that, Punjab now have ten points and are placed fifth on the IPL Points Table while due to a better run rate, Chennai with ten points from nine matches are fourth on the list.
