Rohit Sharma-led team India suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of a formidable English side, that won the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 by ten wickets. England are currently on course to play the finals of the marquee event at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against Pakistan on Sunday, November 13.

However, it was expected that the Men in Blue would display their usual dominating performance but ended up suffering a massive loss. Fans and members of the cricketing fraternity have lashed out at India for their underwhelming performance in the semis. India never really looked threatening with the bat during their powerplay and ended up scoring just 38 for the loss of one wicket at the end of the powerplay.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan in his column for The Telegraph opined that the side possesses the talent but do not have the right process in place to get the desired result.

“Every player in the world who goes to the Indian Premier League says how it improves their game but what have India ever delivered? I’m just staggered by how they play T20 cricket for the talent they have. They have the players, but just do not have the right process in place. They have to go for it. Why do they give the opposition bowlers the first five overs to bed in?” penned Vaughan in his column.

Put Rishabh Pant up the top to launch: Michael Vaughan

Vaughan also questioned the utilization of Rishabh Pant by the side and voiced over his woes with the bat coming down the middle order and struggling to get the big scores.

“How they have not maximized someone like Rishabh Pant is incredible. In this era, put him up the top to launch it. India have to be honest now. Nobody wants to criticize them because you get hammered on social media and pundits worry about losing work in India one day. But it is time to tell it straight,” concluded Vaughan.
