England's players Adil Rashid and Harry Brook are set to miss the upcoming eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League which is scheduled to begin on February 13. Due to his commitments with the national side, Rashid, who was selected by Multan Sultans during the player drafts in December, will remain absent from the competition.

Multan Sultans, the 2021 champions, will now be on the hunt for a replacement spinner as Rashid misses out. On the other hand, defending champions Lahore Qalandars too faced a major setback as one of their finest power-hitters Harry Brook will be missing out. The middle-order batter amassed 264 runs for the Qalandars in PSL 2022, including a century and several crucial cameos, and played a key role in the team's championship victory.

The Lahore Qalandars will also be without Jordan Cox and Rashid Khan for the first three games. In the upcoming replacement draft, which is slated to take place on January 25. Lahore Qalandars will acquire some partial substitute players. Two-time champions Islamabad United will be looking for Moeen Ali, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Alex Hales, and Fazalhaq Farooqui’s partial replacements, while Tim David, David Miller, and Akeal Hosein will all have partial replacements at the Sultans.

While Peshawar Zalmi will be looking for Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and Rovman Powell’s partial replacements, Quetta Gladiators will be on the hunt to get partial replacements for Wanindu Hasaranga, Jason Roy, and Odean Smith.

PSL Season 8 to commence on February 13

After an exciting opening ceremony, the PSL 8 will begin on February 13 with a match between the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champions Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium. After a widespread power failure on Monday, the replacement draft for PSL 8, which was set for January 24, has now been moved to January 25.

The franchises reportedly requested more time from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make their decisions. The PCB has also granted teams' requests to expand the player pool. Franchises will now choose two players from the supplemental category to round out a team of 20 players.
