Season 8 of the Pakistan Super League is set to begin on February 13 as the defending champions Lahore Qalandars are all set to challenge Multan Sultans in the opening match. Meanwhile, the playoffs of the competition are set to begin on March 15 while the finals are to be hosted on March 19 at Lahore.
All the matches are set to be hosted across four venues - Multan, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi announced the decision on Friday, January 20 and also stated that the fans will enjoy quality cricket throughout as he expects the tournament to live up to its potential.
“There will be no question on the quality of cricket that will be played in over 34 days of action-packed cricket. I am hoping the PSL will once again live up to its expectations of unearthing and identifying future stars who will not only challenge the established household names in this edition but will go on to represent Pakistan,” the 74-year-old said.
Meanwhile, at the request of all six franchises, PCB has agreed to increase the number of players per side to 20. It will allow each franchise to pick two additional Supplementary players. The players will be picked in the Replacement Draft, which will take place on Tuesday, 24 January.
