Goa all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar had a subpar outing in the Round 1 game of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 against Tripura. But the youngster made a terrific comeback in the ongoing Round 2 game against Chandigarh. On Day 2, playing at the home ground, Goa ensured to further their domination, as they totalled 618/7d on the board in the first innings.

This predominant display was fuelled majorly by Suyash Prabhudessai (197 off 364), Deepraj Gaonkar (115*), Siddharth KV (77 off 159), and Tendulkar, who made a 60-ball 70 against the visiting side to take the team to a daunting total. Prabhudessai did continue his run of good form from the previous game in Agartala, but missed out on a well-deserved double ton at the home ground.

Just after Prabhudessai, who represents Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL), got out off Kunal Mahajan, Tendulkar arrived at the crease with the intention of firing from the word 'go'. Batting at 8, the ex-Mumbai cricketer decorated his 60-ball stay at the crease with six boundaries and four huge sixes. This aggressive knock by Tendulkar ensured an extension of Goa's stupendous showing on Day 2.

Mayank Agarwal secures scintillating ton against hosts Gujarat

Playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Karnataka were batting second after hosts Gujarat posted 264/10 in 88 overs on Day 1. On the ongoing Day 2, opener Mayank Agarwal alongside Ravikumar Samarth gave Karnataka an excellent start, with a 172-run stand for the first wicket. While Samarth made 60, Agarwal went on to score 109 runs at a speedy strike rate to push Karnataka to a first innings' lead on Day 2.

Gujarat's Chintan Gaja finally ended the Karnataka batter's stay at the crease to bring Devdutt Padikkal and Nikin Jose at the crease. Padikkal, who scored a superb knock in the previous game, missed out on a half-century. While attempting a late cut on RA Vaghela's bowling, the left-handed batter misjudged the line of the ball, and the bails came off as Padikkal couldn't manage to get a piece of wood on the ball.
