Reports: Asia Cup's fate likely to be decided soon, SLC President to attend IPL 2023 playoffs

Sri Lanka Cricket's (SLC) president Shammi Silva is likely to attend the IPL 2023 playoffs which is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, May 23. It is understood that the BCCI could hold talks over the Asia Cup 2023 which could see developments in the coming week.
Notably, Shammi Silva was re-elected as the president for a third consecutive term, along with most members of the previous committee. As per latest developments, the BCCI has invited the president and other dignitaries to grace the IPL playoffs and discuss over the Asia Cup.
While it is no secret that the BCCI and PCB are at odds over the hosting rights of the Asia Cup 2023, SLC’s president stated that there could be major developments on the competition in the coming week following the conclusion of the IPL 2023.
"We have been invited to witness IPL Play-Offs in India and during that trip, there will be discussions on the Asia Cup 2023. Nothing has been decided yet. But I think the fate of Asia Cup 2023 will be decided over the next week or so," SLC President Shammi Silva was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
As per reports, the SLC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have backed BCCI’s idea of moving the ACC event out of Pakistan. Furthermore, the two boards rejected the idea of a hybrid model proposed by PCB chief Najam Sethi for hosting the event in Pakistan and a neutral venue.
However, the ACC is yet to let out an official notice on the regard and could likely make a statement in the coming weeks. Moreover, the schedule of the Asia Cup too is yet to be decided and will be released once the hosting rights is confirmed. In addition to this, PCB is yet to release an official statement on the Men in Green’s participation in the forthcoming ODI World Cup, slated +to be played in India in October.
