The entire country rejoiced as team India broke their ICC curse and lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 title. After defeating South Africa in the summit clash, India won their second T20 World Cup title.

As the Men in Blue are all set to make their triumphant return home, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is planning a victory parade for the World Champions. The side will be given a hero welcome into the country. The flight will be landing in Delhi on Thursday morning around 6 a.m. The Rohit Sharma-led side would then freshen up at the hotel, after which they would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As per TOI's Gaurav Gupta, Team India will leave for Mumbai on a chartered flight after the meeting at the PM's house. There will be a 1-kilometre bus parade to the Wankhede Stadium, where a small event will be held. In the event, the World Cup title will be handed by Rohit Sharma to the BCCI’s secretary, Jay Shah, after which the players will disperse from the stadium.

India dominated T20 World Cup to return as champions

The occasion of the T20 World Cup 2024 final was especially special for the Men in Blue, winning their last ICC title in 2013, which was the Champions Trophy, India has missed out on several major title since 2013. After losing the 2019 World Cup semis, India was eliminated from the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup; they lost the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup; and they lost the summit clash of the ODI World Cup 2023.

The side made it to the final of the T20 World Cup unbeaten and faced a final hurdle in South Africa. Through an excellent performance in the final, India made sure that their ICC curse ended as they won the game against South Africa by seven runs and lifted their second T20 World Cup title.
