Delhi Capitals were struggling with the bat in the first half of the IPL 2023 season, but things are slowly coming back on track as they have now managed to win their last four out of the five outings. In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, May 6, in the ongoing IPL 2023, the David Warner-led side needed 182 runs to win the match, and their English opener Phil Salt gave the team a perfect start, as he wreaked havoc, scoring 87 runs off just 45 deliveries.
Speaking about Salt’s blistering knock, former India batter Aakash Chopra lauded the 26-year-old and stated that every team needs such an opener who doesn't slow down at all. He also talked about South Africa international Rilee Rossouw, who played a brilliant cameo, scoring 35* runs off 22 deliveries against the visiting side.
“Phil Salt sprinkled salt on the wounds. There was a lot of violence. Delhi Police were informed to go to Ferozshah Kotla because the ball was getting beaten up mercilessly. You need an opener like this who doesn't slow down at all,” Chopra said in a video shared on his YouTube channel.
“David Warner did get out after a while but his intent was also class. After that came Rilee Rossouw, and he was in a different hurry - a plethora of fours and sixes. Phil Salt got out in the end, but by that time RCB were also out because Axar Patel too came and hit a six,” the former cricketer added.
Kohli has climbed Mount 7000 - well done, it takes a lot of effort to reach there: Chopra
Courtesy of his 55 runs off 46 deliveries, Virat Kohli became the first cricketer to score 7000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League. Talking about the same, Aakash Chopra congratulated him and also talked about his ‘bullet train’ like a partnership with Faf du Plessis.
“Faf and Kohli - they started like a bullet train once again. Both started very well, but then Faf got out and Kohli was going at a strike rate of around 120. Kohli has climbed Mount 7000 - well done, it takes a lot of effort to reach there,” Chopra mentioned.
