Sanjay Bangar urged the Rajasthan Royals (RR) management to bring the out-of-form Shimron Hetmyer back into the playing XI for the Qualifier 2 clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday, May 29.

The Caribbean batter has had a forgettable campaign so far, scoring 78 runs in seven innings at a meagre average of 13 and a strike rate of 113.05. His highest score is a dismal 22. However, Bangar opined that he should replace Dasun Shanaka in the playing XI as the southpaw has a role to play in the batting order.

"I think they should not play Dasun Shanaka and should look to play Shimron Hetmyer because I do believe that there is room and a role for Shimron Hetmyer in this batting order of RR," Bangar told Star Sports.

Shanaka has played six matches so far, scoring 60 runs at an average of 15 and a strike rate of 162.17. He has picked up only one wicket and conceded runs at an economy rate of 19. It will be interesting to see if Rajasthan changes their winning combination in the knockout fixture.

Meanwhile, Bangar also advised RR captain Riyan Parag to give Jofra Archer three overs inside the power play. The England seamer did so in the Eliminator and dismissed the dangerous trio of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Ishan Kishan.

"Do not stop Jofra Archer after his two overs are finished in the powerplay. Because if he can bowl the third over, it increases the chances of picking an additional wicket."

Bangar also suggested that the RR pacers should refrain from bowling slower deliveries in Mullanpur as it won't be effective at the venue.

"They should not use slower balls against the GT batters, especially at New Chandigarh," the former India batting coach said.
