Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa praised Shikhar Dhawan for his consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) over the years and backed him to get among the runs when Punjab Kings (PBKS) host Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at the Maharaja Yadavidra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, on Tuesday, April 9.
Skipper Dhawan is the leading run-getter for Punjab this season as he has scored 138 runs from four matches at an average of 34.50 and has a strike rate of 131.45. However, 70 out of the 138 runs came in one innings against Lucknow Super Giants. In Punjab's last game against Gujarat Titans, the southpaw was dismissed for one off two balls. He hasn't looked at his fluent best so far in the tournament but Uthappa feels that the Delhi batter will come good against the Sunrisers on Tuesday.
“Shikhar Dhawan is due for a big score and we seldom see him going through an IPL without scoring big scores. I am amped up to see him score well (tomorrow) and see him score big runs. He has set some really high standards for himself as an opening batter and has always been among the runs in the IPL. I am predicting a big score from Shikhar Dhawan,” Uthappa said on Jio Cinema.

‘I think more fireworks from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, the names just roll off the tippy of the tongue. It is not just in their own team, that they are causing fireworks, they are actually creating a lot of chat around the tournament at the moment. Both the sides on 4 points so there will be so many that will jump at the 6 points with a cluster of teams making early moves in the tournament but wouldn’t be believably exciting to watch. I am really enjoying the combination with Daniel Vettori, the new coach and Pat Cummins, the new Sunrisers captain,” Morgan said while talking in the same panel.
