Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar picked the top four teams in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and revealed his desire to see the men in blue winning the title. The former Indian cricketer picked the hosts and defending champions, Australia in his list while including the number one ranked T20I team, India as well.

He further went on to pick Pakistan and England as the other two teams to complete his top four nations in the tournament and spoke about the threat New Zealand and South Africa could bring in. The mega ICC event got underway on October 16 with the Round 1 and so far, the tournament has seen a lot of twists and upsets already.

The Super 12 stage commences on October 22 and will feature the top eight ranked teams competing in two groups while four teams will progress from the qualifier stages. Notably, most of the experts have gone in with Australia and India to be the favourites for the tournament and Tendulkar explained the conditions which might favour specific teams.

New Zealand are the dark horse as are South Africa: Sachin Tendulkar

Tendulkar mentioned that he would like to see the Indian team lift the trophy and listed the top four nations in the tournament. The 49-year-old noted about runners up of the previous edition, New Zealand to be the dark horses. He added that South Africa cannot be taken likely because of the similar kind of conditions at home.

“I would obviously want India to be the champions but my top four would be India, Pakistan, Australia and England. New Zealand are the dark horse as are South Africa... These are the conditions South Africans get to encounter at home in September-October. They are used to such conditions,” Sachin Tendulkar said in an interview with Telegraph India.

India will start their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
