Batting megastar Virat Kohli has arrived in India after the Men in Blue’s recent ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in Australia. The Indians enjoyed a decent campaign which ended in the semis following a humiliating 10-wicket loss at the hands of England in Adelaide a couple of days back.

Even though India set up a challenging target of 169 courtesy of half-centuries from Kohli and Hardik Pandya, it just was not enough as England attacked right from ball one. Skipper Jos Buttler and Alex Hales’ unbeaten 170-run opening stand thus, ended up knocking India out of the competition with a good four overs to spare.

Virat Kohli’s performance in T20 World Cup 2022

Kohli personally had a memorable T20 World Cup campaign as he scored four half-centuries from six outings and finished with 296 runs. He also became the first-ever batter to surpass 4,000 T20I runs. He achieved this feat during the semis against England.

In the all-important match, he scored 50 runs off 40 deliveries and was involved in a 61-run stand with Hardik Pandya after India were reeling at 75/3, having lost their top-order including the in-form Suryakumar Yadav early.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is also one of the contenders to bag this year’s Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding batting performances, including the one in a hard-fought final-ball win in the opening Super 12 encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan where he scored an unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Kohli has been rested for the upcoming away white-ball series in New Zealand along with the likes of other senior players - Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. The Indian team will be led by Hardik Pandya in the T20Is and NCA chief VVS Laxman will be the head coach as Rahul Dravid has been rested for the tour.
