It is almost time for one of the greatest rivalries in sport to resume as India is set to take on Pakistan at Nassau County International Cricket stadium in New York in their second match of the T20 World Cup 2024. Supporters from both the nations would make sure to shell out full support to their teams as this Group A clash pans out on Sunday, 9th June.
Team India came into this game on the back of an amazing win against Ireland in New York on 5th June. The bowlers did their job perfectly to set up the game for their team and get them up and running in the tournament. The small run-chase was finished off by Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant in remarkable fashion.
However, it was a less than ideal start for their neighbours, Pakistan as they were upset by the United States of America in their opening game of Group A. They made a sub-par score of 159 but made sure they did not make the total easy for the opposition and the game went on to a super over. Unfortunately, they were not able to chase down the target set for them in the super over and lost two points.
Therefore, Pakistan would be under tremendous pressure to get a win over their neighbours on Sunday. A defeat would mean that they would have to pull off an amazing feat to qualify for the Super 8. If Team India manages to win the game, it would see them have one foot in the Super 8s.
