With the 2023 season of The Hundred fast approaching, the retention window for the tournament closed on February 16. In the women’s competition, each team can retain four players from their squad of the 2022 season, with a maximum of three marquee players, which includes two overseas players and one player that is contracted with the English team or vice versa.

As for the men’s competition, they could retain up to ten players. Teams were also given two wildcard picks, which will be made later in the year. The players who do not get picked in the draft can later be picked up; they improve as the season goes on.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2023. The men’s champion Trent Rockets were one of the teams that retained the maximum amount of players, their retained players include the likes of Dawid Malan and Alex Hales. Whereas, the women’s champions, the Oval Invincibles, retained their maximum number of players.

The draft for both men’s and women’s competitions will be held on March 23, with the tournament being held from August 1 to August 27.

Many big names will be competing in The Hundred 2023, as is the case every year. English skipper Heather Knight returns to London Spirit after bowing out of the tournament last year due to injury.
