Star Rajasthan Royals pacer Trent Boult has been one of the most important players for the inaugural champions ever since he was roped in by them at the IPL 2022 auctions for INR 8 crore. Known for providing his side with early wickets in the powerplay, Boult has been a force to be reckoned with over the years.
The 33-year-old took 16 wickets in 16 matches in the IPL 2022, and he has followed it up with another sensational season at the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Having played eight games at the competition so far, Boult has managed to take 10 wickets.
In a recent interview, the star pacer sat down and reflected on his favourite first-over wicket from the IPL 2023, and he picked none other than the wicket of Virat Kohli when he sent the Indian batter packing for a golden duck in the 32nd game of the tournament on April 23.
"My kids had just got here. I was on 99 [IPL] wickets; it was about 700 degrees, and I was bowling to probably the best opening pair in the whole tournament. To put one straight into Virat's knee first ball was pretty cool. I don't really normally give it too much celebration, but I quickly gave it a big turnaround to the family up in the hospitality area. I remember waking up at about 4 a.m. that morning because my kids were jet-lagged," Boult was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
"I said, 'Come on boys, you need to go to sleep. Daddy's got a big game today. I'm playing against one of the best batters in the world.' My oldest son said, 'Are you going to get him out?' I said, 'Probably not, and I actually managed to! I couldn't believe it," he added.
Boult was benched for Rajasthan Royals’ last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where they succumbed to defeat to the Aiden Markram-led side. They would next be travelling to the Eden Gardens, where they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the 56th game of the tournament on Thursday, May 11.
