Arshdeep Singh was under the radar for conceding runs on the bowling-friendly pitches of New York in the T20 World Cup 2024. Though he picked wickets at regular intervals his economy rate has become a point of concern. The left-arm pacer has bowled 12 overs in three games and has leaked runs at a rate of 6.25 which is quite unusual on USA pitches.

But Arshdeep has joined the ranks no other bowler has reached in T20 World Cups. He became the only Indian bowler to pick the wicket on the very first ball of the innings in T20 World Cups. He achieved this feat against USA as he dismissed Shayan Jahangir on the first ball. He has an incredible outing overall as he conceded just nine runs in four overs and pocketed four wickets.

Here’s Arshdeep’s first wicket of the game:

India exert early pressure on USA

India took on USA in Match 25 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on June 12. India won the toss and opted to field first. Indian bowlers did their job by restricting the hosts to a small target of 110. Other than Arshdeep’s four-fer, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel claimed two wickets and one wicket respectively. USA batter, Nitish Kumar played a responsible knock of 27 runs and said that the team was 20 runs short.

“I think we're disappointed to get this score from where we were (at one stage of our innings), we are 20 runs short, but we've the runs on the board, the wicket isn't the easiest and we'll look to defend. The crowd is always behind us and it's nice to play in front of them,” said Nitish after the game.
