Team India star batter Virat Kohli has become the highest run-scorer in the history of the ICC men's T20 World Cups. The modern-day great achieved the milestone against Bangladesh in the Super 12 Group 2 match at the Adelaide Oval. Kohli went past Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene's tally of 1,016 runs by adding 16 more runs.

The right-handed batter has been in excellent touch in the tournament as he has already stroked two fifties, including a sensational 82 against Pakistan in Melbourne. The right-handed batter will look to play a match-winning knock against Bangladesh and help his side to post a competative total on the board.

Kohli got to the landmark in 23 innings and currently averages close to 85 in T20 World Cups

Speaking about the proceedings, Bangladesh won the toss and invited India to bat first in Adelaide. Kohli arrived at the crease after fall of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the fourth over of the match. The 33-year-old looks positive from the outset as he has played some excellent shots so far. He reached the milestone during the seventh over of India's innings.

Meanwhile, opener KL Rahul made an excellent comeback with the bat after the right-handed batter stroked 50 runs in just 32 balls which included three fours and four maximums. He was scalped by the opposition skipper Shakib al Hasan as pacer Mustafizur Rahman completed an easy catch.

The Men in Blue require a victory against Bangladesh to consolidate their position and qualify for the next stage of the competition. To note, team India is coming to the contest after suffering a defeat at the hands of South Africa in their previous group-stage clash.

Team India has a balanced bowling department and they will back themselves to defend the total against Bangladesh. Team Bangladesh earned a hard-fought victory against Zimbabwe in their previous encounter and will look to defeat the mighty Indian side and march ahead in the competition.
