For the unversed, Indian politician, Tejashwi Yadav, son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was a professional cricketer before turning to politics. He was also a part of the Delhi U-19 squad as well as in the squad of the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) from 2008 to 2012, although he never featured in the XI in the Indian Premier League.
During a recent conversation, Tejashwi mentioned that he was a professional cricketer which no one knew. He also mentioned the fact that the former India skipper, Virat Kohli played under his captaincy during age-group cricket and also provided the reason for him to have to leave the sport.
"I was a cricketer and no one talks about it. Virat Kohli played under my captaincy - did anyone ever talk about it? Why don't they do so? As a professional, I played good cricket. Many Team India players are my batchmates. I had to quit as my both ligaments were fractured. Let it be," stated Tejashwi during an interview that went viral on social media, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

About Tejashwi's track record in the cricketing sphere, he appeared in one First-Class game, two List-A matches, and four T20s for Jharkhand. The middle-order batter scored 37 runs picked one wicket in aggregate, and debuted and ended his playing career for his state in November 2009 and February 2010, respectively.

The ace batter who last played a competitive game during the ODI series against Sri Lanka in the first week of August will make his return to cricket when India kicks off the first of their 10 Tests in the upcoming season against Bangladesh in four days.

Kohli, currently in seventh place in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings, would be keen on enhancing his position by scoring big and heavy against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, scheduled to commence at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
