Virat Kohli scales unprecedented feat, becomes first Asian to breach 250 million followers on Instagram

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli's fan following knows no bounds, and the batting maestro has shattered yet another record by becoming the first Indian to reach 250 million followers on Instagram. He is only behind football icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the list of most followed sporting personalities on Instagram. 

The batting stalwart is in a league of his own when it comes to fan following. He is miles ahead of Indian icons Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, who are the most famous cricketing personalities on Instagram behind Virat Kohli.

Former Indian skipper and Chennai Super Kings icon MS Dhoni, who took the Indian team to great heights during his captaincy, winning the T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup is second on the list of cricketers with the most followers on Instagram. While one of the most beloved cricketing figures in the world, Sachin Tendulkar (40.5M) is right behind Dhoni in the list, current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (28.5M) and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya (25.9M) conclude the top five. 

Former Indian middle-order star and CSK legend Suresh Raina (23.8M) is sixth on the list, followed by South African great AB de Villiers (21.9M) in seventh place. Former Indian all-rounder and 2011 World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh (17.5M) is in seventh place with veteran Indian opener and social media sensation Shikhar Dhawan (13.7M) and KL Rahul (14.2M) concluding the list.

Kohli is the most followed Indian on Instagram

Interestingly, Virat Kohli is the only Indian in the list of the top 20 most followed personalities on Instagram, currently occupying the 15th place just behind music icon Taylor Swift. Furthermore, he is only the third Indian in the list of the top 50 most followed people on the photo and video-sharing social platform with renowned Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra (86.7M) in 42nd place and Shraddha Kapoor (80.2M) in 44th place.
