Virat Kohli, one of India's batting mainstays, has truly come back to life and is scoring runs for fun and is also loving his game at the moment. However, Sourav Ganguly feels he still can improve in Tests with the Australian challenge looming in form of Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Whenever India and Australia collide on the cricket field, everyone awaits for an epic battle between the two nations. Coming February, this rivalry will start a new course as Australia is set to travel to India for the four-match Test series along with a three match ODI series.
Former Indian skipper Kohli has been playing well since he came after a long break from the game last August and would be hoping to continue his stellar form. He hasn’t been able to make a great mark in Tests and what better way to do so against the mighty Australian team. If there is one opposition that Kohli would love a challenge against would be the nation from down under.
Former BCCI President Sourav Ganduly while talking to Sports Tak said, “"Yes, absolutely. He has batted really well against Sri Lanka, against Bangladesh. He will have to improve in Test cricket because India depends on him and a very crucial series against Australia is approaching which I believe will be a cracker of a contest. I expect it to be very competitive. Both are extremely good teams and it's quite possible that these two teams can go on to play the World Test Championship final."
Kohli would be looking to add more runs to his stellar start to the new year and would want the Australian team to feel the pressure right from the onset. Australia would bring out their A-game under skipper Pat Cummins and they have shown that they can breach the subcontinent challenge. Australia already have gotten a Test series win against Pakistan and drew a series against Sri Lanka. But the Indian team is far more stronger than their sub continent counterparts and this would be an even tougher challenge for them.
