Multan Sultans pacer Ihsanullah has revealed his earnest desire for making his debut in international cricket. The 20-year-old cricketer had an impressive outing in Match 3 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). The young Multan Sultans player claimed a five-wicket haul in the match against Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday, February 15. This was the Sultans’ second match of the 2023 season.
Ihsanullah registered brilliant figures of 5/12 in four overs in his side's nine-wicket win over Gladiators. The youngster also clocked over 150 kph during his spell and also dismissed Gladiators skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. After the wonderful spell in the PSL match, he revealed that he wants to make his debut against India in the ODI World Cup later this year. He also said that he wanted to take a five-wicket haul in the same match to help Pakistan win the game.
“I want to make my debut against India in the World Cup and take a five-wicket haul. I want to help Pakistan win, it would give me immense happiness,” Ihsanullah told in an interaction with Samaa TV.
Many former Pakistan cricketers were full of praise for the youngster for his performance in the match against the Gladiators. They also insisted that he could become a key player for the national side in the future. Analysing his performance, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq also said that he has the potential to clock over 160 kph.
The ICC ODI World Cup is scheduled to take place in October and November. While India is hosting the ODI World Cup, Pakistan has the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup. As per various reports, the Asia Cup tournament is likely to be shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amid political tensions between India and Pakistan. However, Pakistan may boycott the ODI World Cup, if the Asia Cup is moved out of Pakistan.
