Pakistan shockingly crashed out of the ongoing T20 World Cup in the first round itself after suffering defeats against debutants USA and arch-rivals India. They had been receiving a lot of criticism for their performances during the marquee event and it has only intensified after their unexpected exit.
Wasim Akram and many other former Pakistan cricketers lashed out at Babar Azam's men for their dismal performance in the 20-team competition. However, Danish Kaneria lambasted the former cricketers, especially the legendary left-arm pacer Akram, for only blaming the cricketers from the outside and not helping them from close quarters. The former leg-spinner also stated that Shoaib Malik is better than the current crop of Pakistani players.

"Wasim Akram and other people can only preach from the outside. Why don't they come help the Pakistan side? Why did Wasim Akram not pose the question about Mohammad Amir's selection immediately? Shoaib Malik is a better player than these guys (the current squad)," Kaneria told Sports Now.
Kaneria also opined that Pakistan should have picked a larger pool of players in the camp and shortlisted the best 15 from there. He questioned the selection of players like Mohammad Amir and Azam Khan.
"They (Pakistan) should've picked 20-22 players in the camp, and then picked the best 15. Where were Mohammad Amir and Azam Khan six months ago?" blasted Kaneria.
'They're the masters of the U-turn' - Danish Kaneria on Pakistan team management
Kaneria didn't mince his words while criticizing the Pakistan team management, blaming them for their inability to make firm calls.
"They will wake up in the morning and say one thing, and then take a U-turn in the evening. They're the masters of the U-turn. They're egoistic and think they cannot make mistakes," the cricketer-turned-expert added.

Kaneria also criticized the decision to reinstate Babar Azam as the captain and suggested that he should bat at no. 3 in T20Is, letting Fakhar Zaman open the batting alongside Mohammad Rizwan.
