India and New Zealand are locking horns in Match 21 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 22 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. The decision was vindicated by Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami who dismissed openers Devon Conway (0 off 9) and Will Young (17 off 27) early in the innings.

However, a brilliant 159-run partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell brought their team back in the game. The duo attacked the Indian bowling after settling in and made full use of the dropped catches. It all began on the fifth ball of the tenth over bowled by Mohammed Shami. The seamer made Ravindra, who was batting on 12* (21), play one in the air straight to Ravindra Jadeja at point.

However, much to everyone’s surprise, India’s best fielder ended up dropping a sitter. Further ahead in the innings, Daryl Mitchell got a life batting on 70 in the 33rd over against Kuldeep Yadav as he was dropped by Jasprit Bumrah at long off. On the fifth ball of the over, Mitchell smacked a flighted delivery towards long off, but, Bumrah failed to grab hold of it as the ball rolled over for a boundary.
