The much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 is all set to kick off on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As the ICC (International Cricket Council) announced the schedule for the tournament, it was revealed that the finalists of the 2019 edition, England and New Zealand, will kick off the competition on October 5 in Ahmedabad. England would be coming in as the defending champions after their thrilling win against New Zealand (NZ) in the summit clash of the 2019 World Cup.
It could be interesting to see if any of the previous winners add one more silverware to their tally or if a new side is crowned as the new world champion. With the tournament just a few months away, the excitement level for the fans is at an all-time high.

It is also worth noting that 10 teams will be competing in the World Cup, with eight of them having already qualified and the remaining two likely to join up depending on the results of the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers. Bangladesh will begin their tournament by facing Afghanistan on October 7 in Dharamsala.
Furthermore, it has also become clear that the forthcoming edition of the ODI World Cup will also be played in a round-robin format just like the 2019 edition where each team will face each other and will look to secure a place in the top four (semi-finals).
Playing nine matches in the group stages, most of Bangladesh’s matches will begin at 2:00 PM IST, with some of them starting as early as 10:30 AM IST as well. The side will play two of its matches in Dharamsala, one in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi, with Kolkata hosting three of their fixtures.
