The T20 World Cup 2024 prepares for the second semi-final of the mega event as England take on the Indian team. Both sides will face off at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27, for a spot in the summit clash. The winner of the game will face South Africa for a shot at the title.

England completely dominated India in the 2022 T20 World Cup semis, defeating the side by 10 wickets. However, it is a different Indian side this time, but that has not stopped the three lions’ search for a similar result.

England’s head coach, Matthew Mott, highlighted how India has completely changed for the 2022 semis. He also stated the importance of skipper Rohit Sharma in the India squad.

"Probably the only thing that we've discussed is that we feel that they're a very different team from that semi-final. The way that they've approached it in the last couple of years is certainly taking the game on extremely hard in the power play," Matthew Mott was quoted as saying by the Telegraph India.

"Rohit (Sharma) with the bat has led the way extremely well and shown leadership in that department, as has Jos Buttler for us. But I think it presents a really unique challenge for us. It's a venue we don't know well, we've obviously been armed with a lot of information and we think we've got a squad to cover it, but there's a little bit of unknown about what we're going to get,” he added.

England will feel that they will have a point to prove in the semis as they had a horrid campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023, where they were eliminated in the group stages. The defending champions will hope to put in their best performance against the unbeaten Indian side and will look to defend their crown.
