The Men in Blue, after a forgettable outing at the tournament last year, gave their best and qualified for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. They will now be facing England at the Adelaide Oval on November 10, Thursday, with an aim to make it to the summit clash. India haven’t bagged the title since the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007 and will be eyeing to break the jinx.

All four teams, that is India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and England, put up some great performances in the Super 12 stage, but rain played a spoilsport for many of the teams in their journey. Defending champions and hosts Australia were also barred from making the cut to the knockout stage as their crucial fixture was washed out.

Given the Australian weather conditions, none of the teams would want rains to hamper their semi-final fixture. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has kept reserve days for the semi-final games, but if the games are washed out or abandoned even on the reserve day, then the teams who finished on top of their points table will have the advantage.

India will move to finals if the game is abandoned

Thus, if India versus England semi-final clash is washed out or abandoned, then India will move into the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 by virtue of their position in their group’s points table. India finished first with eight points in Group 2, whereas England finished second with seven points in Group 1. Thus, India will have an advantage over England in such a case. Likewise, if the New Zealand versus Pakistan encounter is abandoned, then the Kiwis will make it to the finals.

The chances of rain are less on the day of the semi-final contest, and a complete game is expected to take place. The winners of the semi-finals will lock horns in the summit clash at the MCG in Melbourne on November 13 to clinch the championship title.
