After a long wait, former India skipper Virat Kohli finally hit his 28th Test century, and his first in over three years. Against Australia in the fourth Test of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the 34-year-old took some time to settle down and once he did, he was at his meticulous best, scoring 186 runs off 364 deliveries, which helped India make a strong comeback in the match.

Courtesy of his brilliant century, Kohli finished as the second-leading run-scorer of the series and following which, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir slammed the critics and called them out for doubting the cricketer. Defending Kohli, Amir has stated that every player goes through ups and downs. He also lauded the top-order batter for his hard work and mentioned that every time people doubted him, he made a thumping return.

“Who are these people who are criticising Kohli? I really don't understand. At the end of the day he is human. It's not like he has a remote and you press the button every day and you get a hundred and Kohli will win the match for India. Every player goes through ups and downs," Amir was quoed as saying by Hindustan Times.

"I know because there are certain days when I feel I am bowling well but I don't pick any wickets. And then many a times it is like I bowl bizarrely, probably a full toss or down-the-leg delivery, and I get a wicket. You need luck as well. And you can never doubt Kohli for his hard work. He loves challenges. Every time he has been criticised, he has bounced back to prove them wrong,” Amir added.

India have very good chance to win WTC final: Amir

Courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Australia in the recently concluded Test series, and New Zealand's victory over Sri Lanka in their first Test, India qualified for the finals of the World Test Championship final, which is slated to begin on June 7. Now, ahead of that, Mohammad Amir has shared his prediction, stating that India have a very good chance of winning the championship.

“India. They have very good chances (to win WTC final),” the 30-year-old further stated.
