Why are Wriddhiman Saha and Azmatullah Omarzai not playing IPL 2024 Match 21 between LSG vs GT?

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are about to take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 21 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Lucknow captain KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first. Having won their last two fixtures, LSG didn’t make any change in their playing XI and continued with their winning combination.

However, Gujarat were forced to make a couple of changes due to injuries in their camp. They had to bench their opener and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha who’s been ruled out of the game due to a back spasm. Saha hasn’t had a memorable season with the bat so far having scored just 76 runs from four innings at an average of 19 with the highest score of 25.

The 39-year-old has been replaced with 27-year-old Karnataka wicketkeeper BR Sharath who will be making his IPL debut. Sharath has played 28 T20 matches so far and scored 328 runs with one half-century to his name. He has also inflicted 28 dismissals in his short career so far.

Apart from Saha, GT made another change as Azmatullah Omarzai had to miss out due to a side strain. The seam all-rounder has scored 28 runs from two innings in the season so far and picked four wickets from as many innings at an average of 30.5 and an economy of 9.38.

Omarzai has been replaced with left-arm seamer Spencer Johnson who has picked three wickets from two matches so far in the season at an average of 10 an average of 20 and an economy of 10.
