India women's skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has penned an emotional post to express her gratitude towards the constant support of fans from all across the world and promised to come back stronger with her team in the next outings.

India had a heartbreaking exit from the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023. They had put up a valiant fight against Australia, and at one point did look to even sail through, but Harmanpreet Kaur's run-out was the major turning point, which ultimately had the mighty Aussies enjoying the last laugh.

Will come back strongly: Harmanpreet Kaur vows redemption

"This is for all our fans across the globe who have supported us throughout this World Cup . I thank you for believing in our journey. I know as a cricket fan it’s sad to see your team loose (sic). All I can say is that we will come back strongly and put a great show out there," the 33-year-old wrote in her heartwarming post penned on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

The all-rounder was leading India's chase along with Jemimah Rodrigues after the Women In Blue lost three quick wickets up front. Both players stitched up a brilliant partnership, with Kaur bringing up a fantastic 52 off 34 deliveries.

She looked to have that full intent to almost pull India through, the way she had single-handedly done against the same opponent in the 2017 World Cup Semi-finals, but sadly her untimely run-out in the most unfortunate fashion completely dashed India's hopes of yet again making it to a T20 World Cup final.

Kaur rued her team's missed chances as well during the post-match presentation, as she labelled it "very unlucky".

“Can’t be unluckier than this, to get that momentum back when me and Jemi (Jemimah Rodrigues) were batting. And to lose after that, we didn’t expect this today. The way I got runout, can’t be unluckier than that.”

Videos of former cricketer Anjum Chopra consoling Harmanpreet Kaur in her embrace after India's loss have been doing the rounds on social media too. The final of the World Cup will be played between Australia and South Africa on February 26, 2023.
