Yashasvi Jaiswal has been having a dream run with the bat over the past few months as he’s been shattering records for fun with his performances. After making his arrival into international cricket in style, the southpaw further scored a half-century in just his second T20I appearance on Saturday, August 12. The 21-year-old played a magnificent knock of 84* (51) smashing 11 fours and three sixes in his innings to help India chase down 179 in just 17 overs during the fourth T20I against West Indies.

Jaiswal was deservedly awarded Player of the Match for his stupendous batting which was also his second award in four international matches played so far. Following his scintillating innings, the young batting sensation dived deep into the process behind his success and revealed the role of the seniors in his career so far.

"I keep telling myself that I trust, I believe, and I will keep doing that. And what can I do for doing that? I need to work hard, I need to be disciplined, I eat well, I sleep well, I practice hard and I go and talk with my seniors. We have an amazing bunch of seniors, the legends. The way they talk to us, Rohit bhaiya, Virat bhaiya, Hardik bhaiya and even Surya bhaiya, the way they talk and that experience... I just try to share their experience and make sure that I'm learning and listening to them,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Notably, Jaiswal stitched a magnificent 165-run stand with Shubman Gill (77 off 47) off 93 balls for the first wicket which set up the game nicely for India. During their explosive partnership, the duo was being compared to Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, however, Jaiswal didn’t pay nay heed to such comparisons early on.

We can just go out there and keep doing what we have been doing: Jaiswal

"I don't know about that. What they have done is, they have been amazing. We can just go out there and keep doing what we have been doing and expressing ourselves,” he added.

Gill and Jaiswal recorded the joint highest opening partnership for India in T20Is as they levelled Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s feat achieved way back in 2017. The duo will once again look to emulate their feat as India set their eyes on the series win in the fifth T20I on Sunday, August 13 at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.
