Young English sensation Harry Brook has played some tremendous cricket in the longest format of the game so far and courtesy of which, he arguably is the first name in the England red-ball squad. On Day 1 of the second Test against New Zealand, the 24-year-old stepped up and played some brilliant cricket to bail England out of a difficult position.
He smacked 184* off 169 deliveries and with that, England posted 315 runs for three wickets at the end of the day’s play.
Following the same, Brook mentioned that he wants to ‘cash in’ on the good times as the bad time could be around the corner. The Yorkshire-born also added that he has tried to keep a level head in the last few years and is ready to prove himself in the remaining four days.
“There are good times at the minute. But just around the corner could be a bad time, so you have to enjoy these moments and cash in as much as I can. One thing I have worked on the last few years is trying to stay as level-headed as possible. We still have another four days (of the second Test) to go, but it has been a good few months,” the cricketer said as quoted by News18.
I am just trying to enjoy the moment: Brook
In just five Test matches so far, Brook has scored 807 runs and averages more than 100. He has been one of the most consistent performers for England in the recent past but he is aware that the average will drop down as he will feature in more and more games.
“I am sure that (form) will come down very quickly, but like I said a few times now, I am just trying to enjoy the moment,” the 24-year-old said.
Meanwhile, he will aim to register his first double-century in international cricket on Day 2 of the second Test. He is currently 16 runs shy but if manages to stick to his game plan, he can eventually make the most of the opportunity.
